Blowin’ Me Up With Your Love

Hey everyone! This is a little different from things I normally post on here but I thought I’d share my thoughts with you today! I was really surprised when I got several surprising notifications from WordPress today. I got on here with the intent to write a blog post (which I will do, I promise) and I got distracted by the fact that my blog has a had good number of visits just on this day. Its kind of amazing to me how that happens because all of a sudden there was this burst of interest, which is really awesome. On top of that I now have 100 followers!!! Yay! Thank you guys!

It really does mean a lot though because this blog was born from a class requirement and I never thought I’d have anyone read this blog much less comment. I know I’ve said this before but the fact that people actually read this blog and interact with it is really what keeps me in check. Reality is that I could just throw a couple of images and a couple of lines of “thoughts” and still meet my class requirement. Although I’d never do that because I just can’t. I feel like I need to put my all into everything I do or not do it at all, and this results in many sleepless nights but in the end its worth it to me. I just like putting my best, or close to it, out there.

Knowing that people are reading this blog is just another push to put something meaningful on this blog so this is just a thank you! This blog has become so much more than I thought it would and its thanks to my followers and readers so thank you guys! Be sure to look forward to an explosion of posts since I’m a little behind on my post count. I am now obligated to catch up because I told you this and you now expect it. Anyway, thanks again and until next time guys!

It’s all in the Fine Print

Hey everyone! This is going to be a quick post but I thought the topic was kind of interesting so I wanted to talk about it. We’ve been talking a lot about the business aspect of being a graphic designer in my Graphic Design 1 class lately and I felt that this kind of touches on that. A student has come up with a way to save money but investigating how font contributes to the cost of print. I know this may be my inner Typography nerd coming out but come on, tell me you don’t find this at least a little interesting.

According to his research he found that using certain fonts affected how much the printing cost would because of how much ink is used for certain letters. Depending on the font that was used by his school they would end up paying double for the same amount of words just because of the typeface they chose. As a graphic design student I’m always looking for ways to save a little money without sacrificing quality so this really interested me. His findings caught the right amount of attention and he not only found a way for his school to save money but also the government! Thank you sir! Anyway, I will link the article below so you guys can learn more about this if you want. Like I said before this was a short post but hopefully an informative one if you even need to keep something in mind about printing costs!

100th Post and Update!

Hey everyone! I can’t believe I hit 100 posts already! It’s seems a bit surreal since it doesn’t feel like its been that long but maybe its just me. As I’ve mentioned in the past this is technically a school blog but even though it’s a requirement I’ve really had a good time writing up these posts and getting feedback from you guys. I never EVER expected anyone but my teachers to read this so every ‘Like’ and comment means a lot because it means people are actually interested in what I have to say. So, once again, thank you guys! I also thought that I’d take this time to make an announcement about what’s to come over the summer and in the very near future. I’ve decided that I’m ready to have  a more personal presence on this blog which means I’m going to start sharing my own work with you guys. I think it’d be a cool way to get feedback and just let you guys learn a little bit more about me as an artist! I’m also going to be creating some kind of online portfolio and I’ll give you guys the details on that as soon as I can. I hope you guys will like this new aspect and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Until then keep looking out for more posts!  See you then!
