More Moodboards!

Hey everyone! I wanted to take the opportunity to show you guys a bit more of my work and give you a taste of what I’ve been doing this semester. One of our projects was to create a timeline or infographic poster that highlighted a current event. I really struggled with the beginnings of this project and it was hard for me to come up with a topic that I wanted to highlight. Some of my other classmates chose to focus on topics such as the Ebola outbreak, Human Trafficking and war related spending. I wanted to make sure that my topic was not only current but also had significant importance.

The situation in Ferguson, Missouri is something that has been widely focused on and I felt this project would help me to communicate awareness of the situation. I chose my timeline to be on the number of black males killed in the U.S. by police officers per year. I felt that by focusing on this the project would end up being more credible since I was not communicating an opinion but rather facts and statistics. Below is the moodboard that I came up and represented my concept for my poster. I eventually plan to post the end result when I have a bit more time but I thought I’d share this with you guys! As always I love hearing your opinion so feel free to make a comment if you like! Until next time!

A Day in the Life of a Dog

Hey everyone! This is my slideshow for a project that I’m doing in one of  my classes. I decided to do it on a day in the life of my dog. If you want to find out what she does all day take a look for yourself! Hope you enjoy!

Be My Guest

Hi everyone! I’ve been working on creating some invitations for my Graphic Design class and in order to do that I’ve had to do some research. I’ve been looking for a lot of sources of inspiration and I thought that I’d share some invitation designs that I really liked! I was looking for not only the design of the invitations but also the packaging since I feel that its also a very important aspect. One thing I keep trying to tell myself and look out for is to not over do it. I tend to embellish things more than necessary which leads to too much going on it the design. For my project I’m doing an Alice in Wonderland/Queen of Hearts theme that I talk more about later but for now here are some invites that I think are pretty cool! By the way clicking on the pictures will lead to the site if I was able find one for it! 🙂

Digital Slideshow

Hey everyone! This is just going to be a demo on creating a WordPress Slideshow that I’m doing in class so there isn’t much content to this post. Its more of me just trying out something new for a project I’m doing in class. These are actually images of the French Revolution that were recently released and you can read more about here: http://hyperallergic.com/106358/14000-images-of-the-french-revolution-released-online/

Final Project, Finally!

Hey everyone! Well its the end of the semester, which means finals! I had all of my finals this week and I wanted to post an update of what my end result was for my project. Overall I’m really happy with how this turned out and I’d like to do more over break and in the future. I felt like I really learned a lot of new things in this class and I know I’ll learn more by just working with the programs over break. Like I said I think this is my favorite final of the semester, I just think it really represents Grace Kelly very well if I say so myself! Below are my digital finals!

Final Project Update!

I just wanted to make a quick update on how my final project is going. I had to make some adjustments when it came to the content and the look I was going for. After looking at different magazine spreads I was able to stick with one style to create the spread I wanted. Instead of creating so many sections I felt that one large article with pull quotes would be more effective with the image I selected. I really wanted to incorporate some of the elements from my “intro” page so I made sure to keep my typefaces the same to give the article a consistent look. So far so good, I’ll post the final digital file once I’m finished!

Final Project Mockup

Below is a rough digital sketch of how I want my spread to be laid out. The gray squares represent a general area for my images but this will probably change depending on the size of the images. I also added a paragraph style to some of my content to represent quotes or anything that I want to highlight. I also want have two sections to the article; one section would be Grace Kelly’s biography and the other would be about her legacy and talk about her foundations and/or charities. Once again, depending on the amount of content that I will end up with the way these sections are positioned may change. This is basically a skeleton of my project but it’s a good start. This way I can know exactly what I want to include and how much space I’ll have to work with.

Final Project Proposal

Hi everyone! I had to make a post for my final project for my Digital Applications class and I thought I’d share it here too!

For my final project I would like to create a two page article spread in  InDesign. I want to use this project as a way to integrate two projects together to form a magazine spread. I have already completed what would act as an intro to this article so I’d liked to take that a step forward for my final project. For my other project the subject of my spread was Grace Kelly so I want to continue with that subject but focus more on the format of the article. This way I would have a complete article section of a magazine that would be completed and go together with what I already have.

My goal for this project would be to take what we learned from the InDesign article proof assignment and take it a step further. This would mean integrating images, text and design to produce a professional looking spread. This project would also challenge me to stay with a design that I have already created. In order for this article to fit with my other spread I’ll have to make sure they each represent each other. Since this article would be intended for print I would print out my final spread and attach it to matte board for presentation purposes. Below is the design that I’m going to be working from to create the article. I created the spread as part of another class assignment and I thought it would be cool to expand this into a complete article. I’ll be posting a general sketch of what I want my spread to look like soon!

Intro to InDesign!

Hey everyone! So for this week’s assignment we had to create an Article Proof in InDesign. I’ve had some experience with InDesign before but nothing advanced so I’m glad to get back into the program. I chose to go with an article I found on the National Geographic website about the top places to vacation in the fall. I’ll have the link for that down below but I decide to use #12 Thailand as my inspiration for this assignment. I kind of wanted to keep that National Geographic feel to my proof and keep it more scholarly than something you would see in a tourist’s office. I added some color to spice up the article and make it more attractive as well.

Taking a Closer Look

Hey everyone! No pretty pictures for this post, I hope you don’t mind! I just wanted to talk about something that has really helped me with my drawing recently. I’m taking a sculpture class this semester and we had to use clay to create an eye, ear, or nose as part of a project. I haven’t worked with clay very much in college but I loved using it in elementary school so I was eager to get into this project. I chose an eye just because I have this weird obsession with wanting to draw realistic eyes, I don’t know what that says about me but there are stranger things I suppose. First we had to do drawings of an eye from observation and we had to use three different views.

I have always looked at the front of the eye but the other sides are equally important and something I never really paid attention to. By doing this exercise and creating my eye and eyebrow I came out with a pretty nice looking eye. I didn’t add much detail because I liked it as it is but by physically making the eye I’ve been able to really think about how the eyeball fits into the lid, etc. It really has helped my drawing so I got several good things out of this project. I don’t have a  picture but I may take one to show you guys! That’s all for now, until next time!
